Synopsis

According to the Bible, the Devil was an angel cast from Heaven to serve punishment in Hell. Often, New York City can feel like Hell, and the Big Apple has its very own Devil . . . or is he an angel of death? Saving the best for last, Matt Wagner (Mage: The Hero Defined) brings the talents of Jason Pearson (Body Bags), Troy Nixey (Trout), Woodrow Phoenix (Sugar Buzz), Jay Geldhof (The Lost), and Chris Sprouse (Supreme). In "Devil's Cage" (Pearson), Hunter and Stacy argue over the cartoons she wants to watch. He leaves in anger, and ends up killing some muggers for fun. Stacy takes out her own anger on her stuffed animals, tearing them apart."Devil's Witness" (Phoenix) tells the tale of a plant whom Rose sets up to give the police some false information. He feels proud of his acting job and drives off with Larry Stohler, who poisons him."Devil's Domain" (Sprouse/Martin) is a series of splash pages of Grendel and Argent, with short poetic texts underneath."Devil's Stigma" (Geldhof) shows a vignette of Argent telling Stacy some stories, only to be interrupted by Hunter coming home."Devil's Mark" (Nixey) is about an assassin who tries to become friends with his targets before killing them. However, in this case he is himself the target of Grendel.
